The sun could never be too hot for tea. At least, that appeared to be the case for around 40 residents who sat under floral decorated tents at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Saturday during the e-Camps Family Spring Festival.

As attendees nibbled finger foods, a hat parade got under way, with competitors of various ages displaying their creative headgear.

Moviene Fahie decorated her hat with fresh flowers from her farm.

“I like natural things, so I created my hat from all natural things,” she said, showing off the bougainvillea and hibiscus flowers. “This is my first hat competition, and I think I’ll do all right.”

The tea party and hat parade were among several activities held in the park Saturday to raise funds for 36 children scheduled to visit Spain in July. The funds will help pay for miscellaneous expenses and also offset the cost of the trip for participants who can’t afford to pay the full price, said Portia Harrigan, who spearheads e-Camps.
