The man was riding a scooter from Boo Bay Drive shortly before 8 p.m. when he heard gunfire and ran into the supermarket, according to a police press release.

The man, whose name has not been disclosed by police, remains in the hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

A bystander who was hit in the leg was treated for minor injuries and released, police said. Police Commissioner David Morris condemned the shooting.

“It showed a complete lack of regard for the lives of the many who were in the vicinity at the time of this incident,” he said. “In this light, no one with information about this incident or those involved should keep silent. We seek all the assistance we can get from the public to quickly apprehend the perpetrators of this crime.”
