No leads into the double homicide of 41-year-old Franklin Penn Jr. and 11-year-old Trinity Moses were provided in the week after their deaths, police reported.

Last Wednesday night, detectives with the Major Crime Team returned to the scene of the murders for a “one-week anniversary visit.”

Detective Inspector Joe Goff said in a press release that he had hoped the visit would yield new information about the identity or motive of the perpetrators, but none was provided.

“Many members of the community were quite open, accommodating and receptive to us — willing to help if they could — and for that we are grateful. However, we are unfortunately no further ahead than we were before. There are still no real leads in the investigation of these homicides,” Mr. Goff said.

Detectives spoke to residents in the West End and Little Apple Bay area, where the scooter riders reportedly fled after the shooting, and officers also conducted a stop-and-search operation.

“The life of an 11-year-old girl was callously and heartlessly taken in front of her mother who not only must come to terms with this reality but came very close to losing her own life,” Mr. Goff said. “We absolutely know there are people out there in the community who know of the plan or the motive behind these deaths. We are appealing to you to come forward and help us to bring justice in this very disturbing case.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Mr. Goff directly at 368-9342 or the police Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
